Some jobs are less about size and more about precision. This large gum tree in Engadine didn't need to come down, it just needed a proper tidy up. Deadwood and rubbing branches had built up over time, both of which do more harm than they look like on the surface.
Rubbing branches wear away at each other's bark with every gust of wind, creating open wounds that invite disease and decay. Deadwood is its own risk altogether, since dry, brittle limbs can drop without warning, especially over a driveway, garden bed or anywhere people walk underneath.
With the size and shape of this gum tree, ground-based pruning wasn't going to cut it. Cam got up into the canopy using our EWP (elevated work platform), giving him direct access to the branches that actually needed attention without unnecessary cuts elsewhere in the tree.
