      As per Sutherland Shire Council, tree pruning must follow the Australian Standard AS 4373-2007 Pruning of Amenity Trees. 


      This standard provides guidance on tree pruning and encourages practices and procedures that reduce the risk of hazards after the work is completed. For example, branch failure, pathogen infection and premature tree death.


      This standard (AS4373-2007) requires that a person with a minimum level in arboriculture of AQF 3 conducts the work.


      Approval for tree pruning is required for heritage-listed trees or shrubs, native vegetation that is part of a threatened species, population or ecological community and if it’s part of an indigenous object or of Aboriginal significance.
